Amanda Adkins Launches Campaign for Congress

Kansas City, KS – Kansas City businesswoman Amanda Adkins kicked off her campaign for the 3rd Congressional District today at Prairie Fire Museum in Overland Park. The congressional seat is currently held by Democrat Sharice Davids. Adkins, 44, filed her Statement of Organization with the Federal Election Commission last week.

“The dysfunction in Congress has put our Kansas way of life in jeopardy,” said Adkins. “I’m the only businesswomen, mother and long-term Kansan in this race who understands the unique needs of our district and has a proven record of success in empowering the people of our district.”

Adkins is Vice President for Strategic Growth at Cerner Corporation and has worked there to provide health care solutions for fifteen years. She also has high level leadership experience in the Republican party, including unprecedented election success while serving two terms as the Kansas GOP State Party Chairwoman from 2009-2012.

Adkins graduated from the University of Kansas and has lived in Overland Park for the past 17 years. She and her husband Jason have been married for 20 years. They have two children, Madison and Dylan.

Adkins is known for her leadership, coalition building, and founding Systems of Care Initiative (SOCI) in order to provide a scholarship program for pre-school age children in Wyandotte County.

Adkins’ leadership experience and proven results in healthcare will be a prime focus of her campaign. As the only successful businesswoman, wife. and mother in the race, securing the future for the next generation will be a top priority.
