Adkins Endorsed by Franklin County’s Top Law Enforcement Officials

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Amanda Adkins, Republican candidate for Congress in Kansas’ Third Congressional District, announced today that she has been endorsed by Franklin County’s Sheriff Jeff Richards and Undersheriff Kiel Lasswell: “I’m honored to have the support of Sheriff Richards and Undersheriff Lasswell. I’ve gotten to know these two leaders during the time I’ve spent in Franklin County and appreciate the crucial role they play in serving and protecting their community. As President Biden continually fails to address the crisis at the border, drugs like fentanyl are pouring into the U.S., making their way up I-35, and ruining the lives of Kansans through addiction and overdoses at record rates. Sharice Davids has voted with Biden’s border policies one hundred percent of the time. Kansans deserve real solutions to these pressing issues, and law enforcement officers like Richards and Lasswell are being forced to bear the majority of the consequences of Biden and Davids’ policies.”

Sheriff Richards noted that his recent visit to the Southern border influenced his decision to endorse Adkins: “I’m endorsing Amanda for Congress because I’ve seen the border crisis firsthand. I know Amanda will go to Washington and be a leader in finding solutions to the record illegal drug trafficking and humanitarian crisis stemming from Biden and Davids’ mismanagement of our border.”
Undersheriff Kiel Lasswell joined Richards in endorsing Adkins: “I’m endorsing Amanda Adkins because we need a proven, strong, and respected voice in Washington to preserve our Kansas values.”

Davids has a checkered past when it comes to protecting the safety of the communities she represents and supporting law enforcement. In 2018, Davids claimed our law enforcement system is “rooted in violence.” She has also criticized funding for a border wall, called for the abolishment of ICE, voted against Title 42 (then tried to walk back her opinion this election year), voted against prohibiting gang members from receiving federal benefits, stated that declaring an emergency at the southern border is “dangerous to our democracy,” and believes that “…we have to get away from thinking of everyone who’s coming to the United States as being a threat.”

Richards and Lasswell join Johnson County Sheriff Calvin Hayden in endorsing Adkins’ campaign for Congress.

Adkins previously released a full plan for securing our Southern border. It can be found at amandaadkins.com/defending-security-advancing-workforce/.
