U.S. Chamber Overlooks Davids’ Extreme, Pro-Tax Agenda

Overland Park – Today, Amanda Adkins for Congress spokesman Matthew Trail released the following statement regarding the U.S. Chamber of Commerce:

“Sharice Davids’ radical ideas would severely damage our economy. Davids would burden already-struggling Kansas City families with new taxes when they can least afford them.”

Davids “campaigned aggressively” against the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, which cut the average KS-03 resident’s federal tax bill by over $1,400. “Both Davids and Tlaib campaigned aggressively against the Republican tax cuts.” (The Associated Press, 8/8/18)

Davids has repeatedly affirmed her support for single-payer health care:

By Joe Biden’s own admission, Medicare for All is “gonna raise taxes on middle-class people.” An October 2019 Urban Institute study found that “the additional federal spending for this reform is $34.0 trillion over 10 years, or $32.0 trillion after tax offsets,” and that “households will face increased taxes to finance any of these reforms.”

Davids voted for H.R. 9, the “Climate Action Now Act.” The bill would force compliance with obligations that “could cost the U.S. economy $3 trillion and 6.5 million industrial sector jobs by 2040,” according to a study commissioned with support from the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy.

“Either the U.S. Chamber isn’t doing its homework, or it has some explaining to do to its Kansas City members,” Trail added. “Kansas City families can’t afford Sharice Davids’ radical, tax-and-spend agenda.”
